Unleash your confidence with an enhanced smile, courtesy of natural-looking porcelain veneers

At Innovative Dental Care in Omaha, Nebraska, we understand and acknowledge the “power of the smile.” We know that how your smile looks is often intricately linked to the health of your mouth. And how you feel about the appearance of your smile is also connected to how you think of yourself as a whole – your self-confidence and willingness to socialize, to feel worthy of going after a stretch assignment, or career or community opportunity. So, we don’t take the responsibility of transforming the appearance of our patients’ smiles lightly.

Porcelain veneers represent one of the most transformative cosmetic dental procedures available to modern dentistry. They are, however, a highly “technique-specific” process, which means that the results and satisfaction that patients derive from their veneers are directly connected to the skill and artistry of the individual placing them. Fortunately, you have our very own Dr. Summer Gutschow on your side to revamp your smile safely and in a way that looks natural and celebrates your unique features.

A Creighton grad, Dr. Summer applies her considerable technical expertise and a keen eye when designing your new tooth structure. Additionally, she uses the latest technologies (innovative is in our name, after all!) to aid with precision treatment planning.

The process

All procedures at our center start with Dr. Summer examining the health of your teeth and the gums and tissues that surround and support them. She has to give you a clean bill of health before moving on with procedures such as veneers. Also, depending on what she finds during this visit, she may recommend alternate treatments. If you agree to move forward with veneers, we gather as much information about the teeth to be treated as possible. This information is used to guide the fabrication of your veneers from a quality block of dental ceramic or porcelain. This material is lauded for its ability to mimic the characteristics of healthy tooth enamel. It is also resistant to stains and withstands breakage well. We will need to discuss ways to protect your veneers if you have habits that may damage the porcelain.

A small amount of enamel is also removed during this process. This step is necessary to ensure that the veneer bonds well and fits over the tooth comfortably and naturally. Dr. Summer applies temporary veneers to the teeth while your permanent ones are being made to the unique specifications of all the information we gather during planning. Once these temporaries are applied to the front surfaces of your teeth, you will no longer see the imperfections that marred your smile and confidence. Potentially treatable conditions include:

  • Uneven spacing
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Small cracks
  • Irregular shape
  • Wear and tear, or overly “short” teeth
  • Stubborn discoloration
  • Very yellow stains

Once your permanent veneers are ready, Dr. Summer removes the temporaries. Before she cements the permanent veneers in place, she assures you like what you see and that all feels right. Advanced bonding agents are also applied. That guarantees the strongest bond between the tooth and the ceramic. The veneered teeth are then refined to perfection and polished to let their stunning luster shine! Questions? Veneers

Veneers

Veneers are thin handcrafted porcelain shields worn on the front of the tooth which improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or worn. Veneers are thin as contact lenses, and are an aesthetically pleasing option of closing gaps, lengthening teeth, and providing symmetry to make your smile more natural. Veneers are intended to last for many years without changing color. They are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in dentistry. Ask your dentist if veneers may be right for you.
